Ranges:Front Linkages
MX offers a wide choice of front linkages to suit various tractor hitching requirements and all budgets. Our ranges are designed to suit most tractors on the market and offer a perfect combination of versatility and economy.
What’s more, our front linkages enable two implements to be attached to the tractor, in addition to the rear linkage, so that two operations can be performed in a single pass. Optimum efficiency and ease of use guaranteed!
How does a tractor linkage work?
Front linkage functionality
The front linkage system was introduced in the 1970s, to provide agricultural tractors with greater versatility and productivity. Today it is widely used and allows all types of tractor to hitch a variety of implements, in accordance with the type of work to be carried out.

The 3-point hitch
Typically, the front linkages of agricultural tractors are of the “three-point” type, developed by Ferguson in 1930.
A 3-point hitch system is a set of parts for connecting an implement to the front or rear of a tractor-type agricultural machine. It looks like a triangle or the letter A.
Implements connected to the hitch can be mounted, semi-mounted or towed, and can be for agricultural, vineyard, cereal or livestock work.
The three-point hitch traditionally comprises:
- a hydraulic system, part of the tractor;
- three mobile lifting arms;
- lifting rams, positioned on the arms or sometimes inside the tractor chassis;
- several hitching points, often in the form of hooks at the ends of the arms;
- several stabilisers.
It should also be noted that linkages connecting tractors to implements are subject to regulations:

- ISO 8759 governs hitching systems, such as a front linkage, intended for use at the front of a tractor.
How do I choose my tractor’s front linkage?
Based on its lifting power and category
Lifting power is the first factor to consider when choosing your tractor front linkage. It is usually proportional to the horsepower of your tractor.
MX front linkages cover lifting capacities from 500 kg to 5,300 kg.
However, lifting capacity is not the only thing to consider. You will also need to think about the hitching category, rated from 0 to 3. The higher the number, the stronger the lifting arms and the larger the locking pins will be. This means that they can better withstand the high pressures exerted on the hitch when, for example, working with silage, using heavy implements, or working the soil at depth.
MX offers you two categories of linkage:
- Category 1, for tractors from 20 to 55 hp.
- Category 2, for tractors from 45 to 95 hp.
It should be noted that the correspondence between the tractor’s power and each of the categories is flexible and not determinant.

Based on my activity
MX offers several ranges of tractor front linkage, adaptable in accordance with the specific type of farm, vineyard or field activity:
- The MX R05 and R08 linkages meet the needs of green space professionals, thanks to their adjustable arm spacing that will accommodate all implements.
- Farmers have a wide choice of MX front linkages, the R10, R16, R20, R28, R38 and R53, adaptable to match the intensity and nature of their work.

- Likewise, orchard owners will also appreciate the compact size of the MX R12 and MX R16F.

Everyday use of my front linkage
The front linkage control
The front linkage can be controlled via a joystick from the driver’s cab or by using an external control located on the side, both connected to the tractor’s hydraulic control valve.
Typically, the operator has several adjustment parameters available: draft or position control, and implement lowering speed.
Draft control, historically carried out at the third hitch point, is now carried out at the linkage arms, using tensiometric sensors.
Complementary to its front linkages, MX offers a range of hydraulic or electronic control joysticks adapted to your tractor and implements.
Implements compatible with MX front linkages
MX front linkages factor in the dimensions of MX loaders for 100% compatibility. This means that you benefit from equipment that is common to the front loaders, for additional savings. Plus, you can attach two implements to your front linkage and thus complete two operations in a single pass, giving you even greater efficiency!
Our front linkages will allow you to hitch:
- Weights
- A hopper or front tank
- Tillage implements
- A FACA roller
- Silage, snow clearance or landscaping blades
In addition, for increased productivity and comfort, there are several options:
- Power take-off
- Shock absorber
- Hydraulic connections
- Push bar
- Weight-carrier triangle
- Front plate
