Why install an MX counterweight on your tractor?

At MX, the goal is to offer farmers agricultural equipment to meet every handling need. With this in mind, the brand has developed a series of counterweights called MULTIMASS for agricultural tractors & MULTIMASS XS for compact tractors.

A counterweight is a mass placed at the rear of the tractor when a front loader is attached. As the name suggests, it balances the tractor by offsetting the front weight.

This rear mass is essential for stability: it prevents the tractor from tipping forward, especially when lifting heavy loads. It also ensures better traction on the rear wheels, thus providing optimal productivity. Without a counterweight, the tractor loses efficiency as the rear wheels may lose grip, reducing speed and overall performance.

The weight keeps the tractor user safe

In addition to its technical benefits, the counterweight plays a safety role for the operator. A well-sized rear mass stabilizes the vehicle, thus preventing loss of control due to imbalance.

There is no single or simplified method. The exact calculation depends on many factors: tractor model, weight, wheelbase, type of work, etc. To choose the counterweight without going through multiple calculations, we recommend basing it on the tractor’s size. The more powerful the tractor, the more weight it can carry, and therefore the heavier the counterweight should be.
